Building Academy

 Hello I am Faith Phillips I am a 17 year old that is currently attending the Building Academy at Bay of Islands College. I have been in the Building Academy since the beginning of 2022.  There can be up to 16 of us that work around the school and build/fix that is needed.

The projects we done last year is: Deck, fence, stairs, cupboards and the future p.e shed. We went out on site a week but towards the end of the year the end i went out twice a week with two different company's. On the site I did things like: jibbing, putting doors in, framing, putting windows in, ect.

The projects we are planning to do is: Retaining wall, building our class room, welding room for metal work and I am building a cabin.

What is Media?

Media is the portrayal of news and new information via a range of methods, it is a ever changing format, from the town crier in the medieval times to a telegram in world war 1, making its way on to channel 1 news in the time of television, and finally our generation settling on the internet to display out evolving world via satellites and hundreds of sources that lay all around it, but with that power comes corruption, corruption in the form of propaganda (fake news) the proprietors of propaganda use the availability of our new format the world into a worse place, in a constant battle for influence, a battle consisting of real and fake news. 

Future planning

 For the last few weeks we have been doing our Future Planing. We had to do our dream job, housing and all thing needed to live in the modem world. 

For example say my dream job is beekeeping. Beekeeping pay is $700 per week, minim. So you would have to calculate power, water, rent, food, phone bill, ect and see if you can live comfortable, with how much you get payed.

Today on Tuesday 29 October in Social Studies we have learnt so much about media. What media well if you don't know media is  media is a type of website that everyone can communicate either with other countries on either snapchat and more. Did you know that we had social media before the internet happened. This is an image of all the social media.

What I enjoy

What are three things that I like to do:

1. I really enjoy going to diving/swimming 
2. Drifting with my older brother 
3. Hanging out with my friends               

What are three thing I want to be able to do before I leave school:

1. To be able to land a 360 on my skateboard.
2. To do a better drift than my brother  
3. Also to go to a different country

Globalisation

In Social Studies we have been learning about globalisation and specifically at looking at New Zealand export. So we all decides to track something that was on the top ten export things from New Zealand, so I decide to do wood. New Zealand make 3.6 billion USD each year.
